Plant & Nourish

It's the perfect time to plant shrubs, bulbs and winter bedding, trees and roses as the soil is still warm and moist so roots can establish before the winter. In-store you'll find a fantastic choice of quality plants and some big offers too.

Bird Care

Attract wild birds this Autumn and help protect your garden against harmful insects and pests. Welcome them with additional food and don't forget to keep the bird bath topped up with fresh water too.

Don't forget birds

The RSPB and BTO recommend feeding birds all year. A perfect high energy food source during the winter are fat snax, which look great on the new style feeding stations in-store now.

Tidy & Clear

It's time to give your garden a final tidy and by clearing away autumn debris, you'll help prevent pests and diseases surviving the winter.

Get sorted

Deadhead flowers and remove summer bedding plants. Use our adjustable lawn rake to remove leaves from lawns to stop dead patches appearing. After removal, place in your composter.

Cut & Prune

Keep your garden in shape by cutting back roses, climbing plants and other summer interest plants encouraging long term flowering and good shape. Always make sure you use tools with a sharp blade to get a clean cut and lessen the chance of disease setting in.

Prune smart

When pruning large branches, start with the undercut first. Do this by cutting underneath the branch so the weight of the branch will pull it down and it won't strip off any bark . On shrubs – tackle the dead, diseased and damaged first. Always use quality tools.

Prepare and protect

As winter approaches, all the plants in your garden will become dormant. Prepare to protect tender plants from frost, either with a fleece or in a cold frame. In the greenhouse use a heater or line the wall and/or roof with an insulating bubble wrap.

Protect from frost

Mulch and cover borders with bark chips. Not only does it look neat and tidy but it protects against frost and will lock in moisture. If you use weed control fabric underneath the chips, this will stop weeds growing through and save you time in the future.
